About the Role
WMG is a world-leading education and research department of the University of Warwick, with creativity and innovation at the forefront of all we do. Working in collaboration with academia and industry, WMG is driving the new ideas in applied science, technology, and engineering to create education and research programmes that have a real relevance in our ever-changing world. WMG is also a High Value Manufacturing Catapult (HVMC), working with business, industry and government to transform UK manufacturing, and helping de-risk and accelerate innovation and commercialisation.
We are looking to appoint 2 Business Development Managers who are ready to develop their career working closely with WMG’s different research teams across Electrification, Materials or Manufacturing, to identify and secure industrial engagement opportunities multi-sector for WMG, as well as WMG’s multi-million-pound HVM Catapult.
The Business Development Managers will report to and work closely with WMG’s Head of Business Development – Research, as well as working constructively with the Business Development Managers in other research disciplines, in addition to those in the SME group and across Education, to realise significant opportunity with a multi-disciplinary approach; identifying and developing strategic and tactical prospects that strongly align with WMG’s overall vision.
The role will be both a technical and management role, with an ability to be responsible for all aspects of business development with multiple stakeholders, as well as the management and delivery of agreed objectives multi-sector across a diversity of research teams.
About You
Candidates will have a demonstrable track record of successful experience of commercial management and achievement of challenging revenue targets, and in the securing of significant new business within a technical or research environment.
They will have technical or transferable capabilities across WMG’s different research fields, and a capacity and passion to master new areas of knowledge and skills rapidly to support the demands of the role.
Appointed candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability and confidence to communicate with a wide range of management and technical stakeholders both internally and externally.
